BigTrak Programming at Oakfield

The pupils at Oakfield House School have had the opportunity to learn all about Programming for a Friday Option. This has excited some of the pupils who have looked forward to their Friday Option as they have learnt and challenged themselves with Technology.

The pupils where in charge of a BigTrak robot and they had to program it to go around the classroom and an assault course. They learnt about algorithms (a set of instructions designed to perform a specific task). The pupils could only program the robot by telling it to go forward, backwards, left or right. Once the pupils had finished with programming the BigTrak they had a go at using another robot called a mini sphero (a robot ball) this used the same type of programming instructions as the BigTrak. The pupils thoroughly enjoyed themselves and had a great time.
