S.I.D (Safer Internet Day) 2021 is celebrated this year on Tuesday 9th Feb. The theme this year is: ‘An Internet We Trust’.
The day is co-ordinated by the UK Safer Internet Centre and promotes the safe reliable and positive use of digital technology for children and young people.
Here at Oakfield House School , we will be doing our own work towards celebrating Safer Internet Day.
For parents/carers, there are some suggested tips and lots of helpful resources available on the safer internet website including some video clips that you may wish to use: www.saferinternet.org.uk/safer-internet-day/2021
In support of this, we ask is that you spend a little bit of time talking to your children about keeping themselves safe online using the guideline sheets included here.
At Oakfield each pupil will be decorating the SID template in any way they wish and writing a pledge of what they will do to ensure they stay safe when online. This could be ensuring that they do not give out any personal information online or ensuring that they understand when to report something which doesn’t feel right.
Together, we hope to educate our young people on the dangers that can be caused by a lack of understanding when using online technology and we appreciate your support.
