Home Our Approach Clinical therapy

Clinical therapy

As well as delivering the best possible education, we also have access to a clinical team who provide care and therapy to benefit the children and young people in our school.

Our access includes:

  • Speech and Language Therapist
  • Occupational Therapists
  • Art Therapist
  • Educational Psychologists
  • Access to other types of therapy as required

Sensory Spaces

We are very fortunate to have sensory rooms, designed specifically to engage our children, stimulate their reactions and engage their communication.

By The Willows and Maple classrooms we have a platform swing to work on the balance, core strength and body awareness of the children.

The Immersive Room

We also have an incredible immersion room. The flexibility of the environments enables everything from calming and relaxing sensory sessions to energising games which foster motor skills development. The library of content allows for highly targeted educational activities that bring learning to life for students.

  • It provides multi-sensory experiences that appeal to different learning styles like visual, auditory, and kinaesthetic and offers relaxation to help regulate emotions and behaviour.
  • Encourages collaboration and socialisation through multi-user experiences.
  • Enable students to crucial practice life skills like crossing streets or shopping within the safety of a room.
  • Virtual field trips allow exploration to horizon-expanding locations without concerns over physical access or logistics.
  • Adjustable difficulty levels support gradual skill progression.
  • Replayability of activities allows repetition for improved comprehension and mastery.

We aim to provide our students with a safe, caring and nurturing community with clear, consistent boundaries and high expectations. Relationships are at the heart of our approach and are based on sensitive understanding of a young person’s experiences and the areas in which they require more support.

Behaviour is understood as a form of communication and all staff work together to enable the healthy physical, social, and emotional development of each student.

The team work with each student where appropriate, as well as their parents or carers, to agree a support plan which will become part of their school life, enabling them to build on their strengths and increase their resilience.
