Oakfield House School is set in 8 acres of landscape gardens that include our own woodland trails through our orchards and vegetable patches. The pupils enjoy exploring the mini beast and wildlife that grows within our pond and wooded areas.
This links nicely with our forest school approach. We are currently developing our own Forest School with 2 fully trained forest school leaders on site. This will allow us to offer the children opportunities to develop a range of skills using our grounds, including tool use, plant identification and den building. All the activities will be designed to help the learners develop their resilience while taking calculated risks in a safe environment. We also have an outdoor sports area, a multi-use games area (MUGA) and outdoor play equipment.
The interior of Oakfield has all the character of an imposing country house comprising of a grand staircase and spacious rooms. We have six large classrooms and all have extensive views over the landscape gardens and nearby fields. The pupils thoroughly enjoy the welcoming Reading Room where they are nurtured to recognise and reach their full reading potential.
We have a Pupil Support room were pupils feel secure to explore their emotions and build resilience within a safe environment. An experienced and dedicated team delivers a therapeutic and trauma informed approach. This in turn scaffolds the pupils to engage in creative experiences. We have a purpose built therapy room for 1:1 direct therapy to take place.
The Willows at Oakfield House School is our dedicated discrete attached facility that has been developed and fully resourced for autistic children and those with complex needs. This unit has dedicated staff and intensive therapeutic input.
Oakfield House School is ideally located to take advantage of local sports centres, swimming pools and leisure facilities.
Please note, the virtual tour for this school was filmed at a point in time, therefore the layout, classroom details and other areas may have changed.
