Oakfield is a country house built in the 1880s, set in eight acres of beautiful parkland.
Oakfield House School is situated between Blackpool and Preston in Salwick near Kirkham. The school is easily accessible from the M6, M55 and the M65. Our pupils come from various towns in the surrounding areas including Blackpool, Fleetwood, Lytham, Preston, Lancaster, Chorley, Wigan and Blackburn with Darwen.
We are an independent school catering for autistic children aged between 4-12 who can present with a range of associated difficulties.
We provide a unique provision for autistic children and those with complex needs in purpose-built classroom environments and a series of sensory spaces that work seamlessly with the learning spaces.
We are fortunate to have Forest Schools where pupils can maximise the benefits of our parkland and enhance their experiences outdoors. In addition to this we have an Immersive Classroom where we can take the children anywhere, anytime, from within the safety of our walls.
Our pupils are currently divided into eight small classes located in our main school building, as well as external classrooms. Our staff team have substantial experience and qualifications, ensuring each of our pupils receives the very best support available regardless of their individual needs.
We view each child as a true individual with their own strengths, aspirations, interests and areas that they need to personally develop. We work hard to maintain a family atmosphere at school where an ethos and culture of valuing and mutual respect is evident.
Our experience shows us that working together with families and other professionals bring about the best progress for each child; we ensure each term every child’s progress is reviewed and we ask for parental input on next steps for pupils. Collaboration ensure we can challenge development in a wider range of contexts; we use our onsite multi-disciplinary team to formulate and actions and targets for each individual pupil, informed by their EHCP.
We strive for excellence and we are proud of the learners’ progress made at Oakfield House School; learners feel happy and safe here which in turn, ensures they can challenge themselves and build an understanding of self and others.
We are proud of the community we have and the amazing pupils that pass through our doors and make exceptional progress to take forward on their next steps in life and secondary school.
