Admissions

Oakfield House School accepts referrals from local authorities. Typically, we receive referrals from local authorities once an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) has been agreed.

Upon receiving a referral, leaders will review the paperwork to see if the school is likely to meet the child needs. If leaders feel that needs could be met, an initial offer to assess the child is made. All offers to assess are directed to the local authority in the first instance.

Following an assessment, the team will confirm if Oakfield House School can meet their needs. If the assessment team feel that needs can be met, a visit to the school will be offered. The nature and duration of this visit will be tailored to the needs of each child.

At the end of this process, an offer letter is sent to the local authority with starting dates and fees. Within the first 12 weeks of the child starting at the school, we will arrange for a post admission review to be held. At this meeting, the placement will be discussed and any amendments to the provision agreed with parents/carers and the local authority.

Oakfield House School accepts referrals for children who are:

  • Aged between 4 (Reception) and 11 years (Year 6).
  • Have an Educational Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
  • Will have a primary diagnosis of autism (ASC), or associated traits.
  • May have additional needs including; sensory processing,  speech, language and communication, social, emotional and mental heath, anxiety, pathological demand avoidance, emotional based school avoidance, severe and/or moderate learning difficulties and/or specific learning difficulties such as Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and Dyscalculia.

If you’d like to make a referral or you simply want to know more, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with our Admissions Officer: nicola.pillay@ofgl.uk
